What is this?
The Collective offers a resource for providers and the public. This list of practitioners, who meet exacting criteria, may be helpful to you if you are looking for an experienced, well qualified counsellor, supervisor, trainer or speaker in your area. We hope that you will find the 'right fit' here.
The criteria for membership (open to review)
Every practitioner on the list:
- is trained to a level of understanding and professionalism which equips them to work safely with complex and long-term issues as well as more recent events
- has experience of working in Primary Care (in a GP surgery or equivalent setting)
- has been nominated and seconded by professional colleagues
- has at least one reference from a non-counsellor health practitioner e.g. GP, Practice Nurse
- holds a current CRB certificate or equivalent
- is registered or accredited with at least one of the recognised professional counselling and psychotherapy bodies and has listed their membership/regjstration number so that this can be verified
- Has signed an agreement to continue to abide by the Criteria for Membership
- UKCP
- United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy
- BACP
- British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
- CPC
- Counsellors & Psychotherapists in Primary Care
- adhere to a clear Code of Ethics;
- complete at least 30 hours of continuing professional development;
- have a minimum of 1.5 hours of clinical supervision each month;
- have their own personal indemnity insurance;
- have no upheld complaints made against them.
